How to Talk with Your Kids About Tough Topics
Dr. Amy MacDonald
It can be challenging to find the right words when talking to your kids about subjects like peer relationships, sex or making good choices. It is even harder when the topic is death, natural disasters or scary threats that are in the news every day. Fortunately, no parent needs perfect words, just a heartfelt desire to be honest and reassuring, along with a few skills for effective communication. We will look at ways to avoid three common pitfalls in communication and will learn three great tips for nurturing secure, resilient, well-informed kids who can trust that we will talk to them with sensitivity and genuineness.
