Parenting Tweens and Teens in the Era of Social Media

Michelle Demaray

Navigating relationships in a digital world is a whole new game.  The way our teens and tweens relate to their peers is a far cry from the way we it used to be.  How do we help them?  How do we parent our teens through Snapchat, Tik Tok and an electronic peer network?  Social media use has added significant complications to parenting of teens and tweens today.

Psychologist Michelle Demaray has done extensive research on bullying and victimization in schools, including bystander behavior and cyberbullying.  In this session, Dr. Demaray will focus on how we as moms can support our teen’s friendships both in person and online. We will talk about the pros and cons of social media use and how to handle a negative social media experience with your tween or teen. Join us to learn how to help your child use social media in a healthy and positive way.
